card room serve the needs of all residents.
A large craft room with an equipped
work-bench area is available for your use.

Georgian architecture, highlighted by red brick, arched windows and a majestic columned entry lends a classic appeal to this beautiful building.

Quality craftsmanship is the hallmark of Lilac Apartments, constructed
to meet American Disabilities Act specifications and current fire code requirements. All 105 units are handicap adaptable. Walls and floors are constructed with safe solid concrete. Steel studs, soundproofing material and double sheetrock enhance privacy between apartments.
A sprinkler system protects the entire building. A locked entrance with individual phone link-up allows residents to screen visitors.

Affordable Housing Development

Lilac Apartments is a private housing development. Though not a HUD subsidized project, Lilac Apartments qualifies for the Federal Affordable Housing Tax Credit Program. This assistance is coordinated by the Illinois Development Authority. Thus Lilac Apartments is able to assure that rents will remain "affordable" by Federal guidelines for 30 years to those who qualify. Market rate apartments are available on a limited basis.

A survey of comparable private senior housing complexes in Northern Illinois has shown rents to average considerably higher. Your comparison of other projects is encouraged.

Proximity to Municipal Conveniences

Although hidden off road on a beautiful six acre wooded site, Lilac Apartments is just a two block walk to restaurants, banking, shopping and professional services.

Nearby is the Fox Lake Community Center, home to many senior and community activities. Metro train and Pace bus services are within walking distance. Subsidized taxi service for senior citizens is available through Grant Township.

The Architect

Lilac Apartments features two large lounges,
Lilac Apartments is proud to have as its architect,
Donald Erickson of Barrington, Illinois. As a
protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright, Erickson studied
at Taliesin East in Wisconsin and Taliesin West
in Arizona.

His buildings have been featured in major architectural journals, newspapers and magazines.

Currently serving on the board of directors of a senior housing development, Erickson has the knowledge to combine beauty
and function with sensitivity to the needs of active, mature adults.
